“This is my garden. Pull up a seat.”
I'm not a guru. I don't have a framework, a morning routine worth selling, or a ten-step plan for anything.
I'm just a bloke in his mid-forties who spent a long time doing what was expected, and one day found himself with a redundancy package, a blank page, and the strange, terrifying freedom to finally figure out what he actually wanted to say.
So I started writing.
This place is called Loose Chats because that's exactly what it is. Conversations that wander. Stories that start as one thing and end up somewhere else entirely. Observations about growing up, getting older, the things we lose without noticing and the things that turn out to matter more than we thought.
Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes it goes somewhere deeper than I planned. Sometimes it's about a video store that closed in 2017 or a Tuesday morning cinema session that quietly rearranged something.
It's always honest. That's the only rule I've given myself.
There's a garden in my mind. A quiet place I return to when I need to think. Still water, stone paths, a wooden bench. This site is the version of that garden I can share. A place where I can be anything I want in these pages, reaching out to whoever happens to wander in.
If you're here, I'm glad you found it.
I can't promise a schedule or a niche or a brand. What I can promise is that everything I put here will be real. Real stories, real observations, real attempts to make sense of a world that doesn't always cooperate.
I'm an ordinary person, trying to feel again.
If that sounds like your kind of place… pull up a seat.
Loose Chats is written by Les - creator, storyteller, and recovering corporate IT zombie. You can also find him over at Les Let Loose on YouTube, where he makes videos about gaming, movies, pop culture and the occasional existential detour. Poorly.
